IGNOU Bachelor of Library and Information Sciences Admission 2024
IGNOU BLIS Admission 2024 – The Indira Gandhi National Open University has launched the Bachelor programme in Library and information sciences (BLIS) on demand for a large number of trained personnel in libraries, documentation and information centres.
The University has launched its Bachelors Degree in Library and Information Science Programme (BLIS) in 1989.The BLIS discipline was completely revised in 2000 according to latest needs.The Hindi version of the programme was launched in 2003.
The BLIS program at IGNOU is like a guiding light for people who want to explore the world of managing information. The registration process for IGNOU BLIS Admission 2024 is currently underway, and it welcomes students who are excited to start a meaningful journey in Library and Information Science.
he program consists of 10 courses. Among them, six courses (BLI224, BLI225, BLIE227, BLIE228, and BLIE229) include a practical component, while the remaining four courses (BLI221, BLI222, BLI223, and BLIE226) are theory-based.

The candidate seeking admission to IGNOU BLIS programme must possess the Bachelor’s degree or a higher degree in any discipline from a recognized university.The complete details are as mentioned below:
- Bachelor‘s Degree with 50% marks and 45% for General and for the SC/ ST/ OBC / PH category respectively OR
- Bachelor‘s Degree with Diploma (one year) in Library Science OR
- Bachelor‘s Degree with 2 years of working experience in Library and Information Centre
Medium of Instruction
The language used for teaching in IGNOU BLIS is English. However, students have the option to write assignments and Term End Exams (TEE) in Hindi as well.
Duration of Programme
The minimum duration to complete the programme is 1 year. The maximum duration is 4 years.
