IGNOU Master of Arts in Philosophy (MAPY) Courses & Syllabus

The Indira Gandhi National Open University offers admission to Master of Arts in Philosophy in both January and July session. It is a two-year master degree programme which includes the courses worth 64 credits Where each credit is equivalent to 30 study hours which consist of all the learning activities. Therefore, the students who are pursuing the IGNOU MA Philosophy programme has to pass out all the courses (64 credits) within the maximum duration to make themselves eligible for the master degree. In IGNOU MA Philosophy first year courses, there is one compulsory course and eight elective courses out of which students need to choose six courses. The compulsory course MPY-001 is of 8 credits whereas other elective courses are 4 credits each. In the same way, there is one compulsory course MPY-002 in the second year which is also of worth 8 credits and six elective courses to choose out of ten courses.

The students have to select 6 electives in both first year and second year respectively. To obtain the master degree certificate, the students has to earn 64 credits over a minimum period of 2 years and the maximum period of 5 years.
